Fundraising to support start of school (2019 HIA fundraising campaign)
As part of the “Starting School Together” campaign, the Hungarian Interchurch Aid issued a call in 2019 to support Iraqi schoolchildren as well. The aim of the fundraising is to get as many disadvantaged children as possible to receive the school supplies needed to start school.
On 22 October 2019, we distributed school start-up packages to 1,200 children at Karmlesh Primary School and at high schools in Karmlesh, Bashiqa and Qaraqush, and 4 schools received new whiteboards and gas heaters to heat the classrooms.
HUF 5,456,028 was raised during the Aid Organization’s own fundraising campaign, which was used to help 1,250 Iraqi children to start school.
