School and Health Centre Renovation Project Agreed Upon in Kyiv Region
HIA extends humanitarian aid programme by signing cooperation agreement with local authorities.
László Lehel, President-Director of Hungarian Interchurch Aid held talks with Ukrainian government officials and local government leaders in Kyiv on the reconstruction of the educational and healthcare infrastructure of the region. From the Ukrainian side Ivan Lukerja, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Rural Development was present. Their discussions focused on the effective use of the humanitarian funds provided by the Hungarian government, aimed at the reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure in the liberated areas around Kyiv. In some municipalities of the region up to 50% of the buildings were significantly damaged or destroyed, including around 100 schools and 68 kindergartens.
As a result of the negotiations, the President-Director signed a quadrilateral Memorandum of Understanding with the representatives of the military administration of Kyiv region and the heads of Borodyanka and Bucha municipalities. Participants agreed to cooperate in the renovation of the Zahal’tsi Secondary School in the Borodyanka municipality and the rebuilding of a community health center of the Bucha municipality. Preparations for these large-scale reconstruction projects will start immediately, coordinated by the Kyiv office of HIA who will keep all parties informed on the progress of the constructions.
